Q : What is hypnotherapy and how does it work?
Hypnotherapy is used to relax the conscious mind and give the subconscious mind helpful suggestions. When under hypnosis, you put your mind and body into a heightened state of learning, making you more susceptible to suggestions for self-improvement or behavior change. The goal is to synchronise the subconscious and conscious mind, and help give you greater control over your behaviour and emotions.
Q : Cost of hypnotherapy?
Your initial consultation is completely free, this is usually done over the phone. As a guide, fees are £50 per session.
Smoking cessations are £120. Smoking issues can normally be resolved over one session.
Weight management is £160 and covered over four sessions.
Q : How does hypnotherapy help anxiety and stress?
The treatment for anxiety is to find the root cause of the problem and change your relationship with anxiety by boosting feelings of confidence and self-belief. Using the power of suggestion, hypnosis aims to access your subconscious mind and promote positive change. The suggestions themselves can be tailored to help you learn what triggers your anxiety and why, as well as changing the way you react towards them.
Q : How many sessions will I need?
Generally a course is between 3 to 5 sessions, but due to each case being different the number of sessions needed will vary. Between us, we will plan a course of sessions specific to your issue, starting with a first session of around 90 minutes, then subsequent sessions of 60 minutes. Depending on the work we do within the session, the timescale can vary.
Q : What is the treatment like?
The treatment will consist of speaking to you about yourself and your past experiences, during this time I shall be using the information you tell me to form a treatment plan that will help you with your issue. We will then begin the 'hypnotherapy' session in which you will sit in a comfortable chair and relax. You will always be in complete control and never do anything that you don't want to do. Afterwards you will 'awaken' and you will be able to go about your day as usual without any side effects.
Q : How does hypnotherapy work for phobias and fears?
The aim of hypnotherapy is to communicate with the subconscious mind and change the way you feel and behave towards your phobias and fears. The process itself involves putting you into a very relaxed, hypnotic state. I will talk you through this and you will be in control the whole time. If you’re unsure where your phobia comes from, we may spend some time finding the root cause of the phobia and remembering the event that triggered the phobia.
Q : How does hypnotherapy work for low self-esteem and confidence?
Hypnotherapy accesses the subconscious mind and uses the power of suggestion to trigger positive change. These suggestions can be tailored to help improve confidence levels. Generally, these suggestions will be positive and made in the present tense. For example, the phrase "you feel confident in everything you do" would be used rather than "you no longer doubt yourself". The theory behind this is that the unconscious can't differentiate between "you have" and "you no longer have".
